The biography of Oliveira da Silva & Associados – Sociedade de Advogados, SP, RL is closely tied to the professional career of its late majority partner, J. M. Oliveira da Silva, lawyer since 1983.
Graduated from Faculdade de Direito da Universidade de Lisboa in 1982, has been a member of the Portuguese Bar Association since 1983 after 18 months of internship with the late Dr. Marques Martinho. About his professional career - and even before the law - between 1972 and 1975, during military service, served as transmission’s security analyst, with the mobilization to Mozambique with the rank of Second Lieutenant.
Already in 1975 and until 1979, he was an high school teacher and from 1979 to 1983 he occupied the post of Human Resources Director from the Group Iberol/Copaz.
J. M. Oliveira da Silva also worked as a Broadcasting announcer in the former Emissora Nacional and Rádio Clube de Moçambique and became a member of the Advisory Council for Social Communication near the parliament..
Already in traineeship to became a lawyer between 1982 and 1984 he ministered the discipline "Law and Ethics of advertising" in IADE; since 1983 he practices full-time advocacy.
Paring with advocacy J.M. Oliveira da Silva was a member of administration bodies of Portuguese companies and multinationals active in Portugal.
Corporately speaking, he was founding partner in 1996 of the law firm Oliveira da Silva, Reynolds & Associados – Sociedade de Advogados, which later in 2006 changed its denomination to Oliveira da Silva & Associados – Sociedade de Advogados .As a lawyer, the majority of his practice was in Private Law, having as main areas for action Arbitration, Labour Law, Family Law and Successions, Business Law, with particular emphasis to supporting numerous national and international companies of the industrial and commercial area on the levels of Labour Law, Corporate Law, Commercial Law and Contracts. He passed away in 2023.
So, OS&A is the result of more than 35 years of practice, which in 1996 naturally resulted in the creation of a lawyers firm – with headquarters in Rua de Santa Marta – with colleagues with whom partnerships had been made, in order to provide a legal service more targeted, joining efforts and specialized expertise, to optimize the quality of support given to customers: explicitly with Isilda Pereira and Nuno Reynolds Telles Pereira, together with the support of António Freire Maurício, as an external collaborator. After 10 years of activity, the formerly named Oliveira da Silva, Reynolds & Associados, Sociedade de Advogados, RL changed its denomination to Oliveira da Silva & Associados, RL (now, Oliveira da Silva & Associados – Sociedade de Advogados, SP, RL ). Ever since 2006, already in the new offices, in Telheiras, the firm carries out its métier, benefiting with the addition of new partners since 2006.
